The radius of a circle is 17.5 cm. Find the area of the sector enclosed by two radii and an arc 44 cm in length.
Given:
Radius of circle = 17.5 cm
Length of arc = 44 cm
∵ Length of arc = × 2πr
∴ 44 = × 2 ×
× 17.5
θ = 44 × 360 × ×
×
θ = = 144°
Now, Area of sector = × πr2
= ×
× 17.5 × 17.5 = 385 cm2
Hence, the area of the sector is 385 cm2.
