(13.1) Canal originates at Harike Barrage/ Confluence of Satluj and Beas

(13.2) The area to the east of the canal under lift irrigation is lifted up to make it flow against the slope of the land area.

(13.3) The economic significance of this canal for the command area-

i. It has led to an increase in cultivated area and cropping-With the help of canal now cultivated land area has been increased and people started cropping more crops in an area.

ii. Traditional crops sown here are Gram and Bajara now it has been replaced by wheat, cotton, groundnut, and rice- In Rajasthan earlier gram and Bajara were sown but with the help of canal now the people started growing wheat, cotton, and groundnut and rice which help to earn more for their livelihood and they also get more options for cultivation of crops.

iii. Which led to an increase in agricultural and livestock production.
