Mir Baqi (General of Babur) had built Babri masjid after demolishing a temple on the instruction of Babur when he invaded India. Years later, both Hindus and Muslims made conflicting claims on the property and tried to mobilize people. This created a tense atmosphere in the country. In December 1992, despite the Supreme Court’s order, State government did not take care of security arrangements. And thus, the disputed structure of Babri masjid was demolished by a violent mob.
