Justify that ‘Regionalism is not as dangerous as communalism’.


a. Regionalism refers to an ideology which demands more autonomy and development of a particular geographical region which inhabits people belonging to the same cultural, tribe or a linguistic group.


b. In vast countries like India, there are bound to be some regional imbalance. Hence, we can justify regionalism because it demands development and decentralization for their respective region.


c. Communalism is a political ideology in people have a strong attachment or allegiance to one’s religion or community alone. It often leads to riots due to incitement of violence by against each other’s religious identity.


d. It doesn’t demand development unlike regionalism.


e. Rather, communalism is an instrument used by political leaders to mobilize people. Communalism makes people believe that their own religion is superior to others.


f. It always keeps two different religions at loggerheads with each other. Hence, we can justify that regionalism is not as dangerous as communalism
