What was the Godhra episode? What were its after-effects?


Godhra Train Burning was a very brutal incident in Indian history that took place in the morning of the 27 February 2002.


This incident shook the whole nation and destroyed the social fabric and peace in society.


More than 59 Karsevaks and innocent women and children died in a fire inside the famous Sabarmati Express train near the Godhra railway station in the state of Gujarat.


Large scale violence and communal riots were taking place all across the country as a consequence of this incident, since it was believed that Muslims had set on fire this railway bogey.


Law and order were not taken care of by the central government.
