Analyse the political impact of the hegemony of the US on the world.

It would be incorrect to view United States hegemony in purely economic or military terms with no having consideration of ideological or political, or the cultural dimension of American hegemony.

Within this sense, hegemony is regarding the potential to manufacture consent. Herein, hegemony is concerned with political, social and especially ideological superiority. Hegemony emerged when the dominant country wins consent of the dominated class via convincing them to see the world in such a manner they see the world.


Within the field comprising of world politics as well as international relation, the idea of hegemony suggests that superpower United States of America employs not only military power but ideological resources or political power as well to shape in addition to determining the direction of world politics and behaviour of other competing as well as smaller states. In addition to this, the United States of America also affects the action and behaviour of weaker states in a way which favours its interests.


This attribute relating to hegemony is referred to as soft power whereby the superpower United States dominate the international relation as well as world politics via persuasion as compared to coercion.
