‘Nepal and India enjoy a very special relationship that has very few parallels in the world’. Justify the statement.
Nepal and India share a very special relationship that is sought after. This can be depicted by the way both these countries have managed their affairs such as-
i) Citizens of the two countries can easily travel across the borders to work and stay without visas and passports as per the Indo Nepal treaty of Friendship.
ii) Since Nepal is a landlocked country hence it gets easy access to the sea through the Indian territory.
iii) Trade, common natural resources, electricity generation holds the two countries further together due to sharing of resources.
iv) Since Nepal recently adopted a constitution in the year 2015, it is expected that the democratic rule will further strengthen ties between the countries.
v) A threat in either of the country has to be informed and dealt with collectively as decided by both the nations.
vi) Due to free movement of people across the border this has given the youth of Nepal free and fair access to educational institutions in India.
