Major changes that are required to improve the functioning of the Security Council are-

i) Increase in the permanent and non- permanent members in the Security Council to ensure that there is better representation of opinions when it comes to matters of contemporary politics.

ii) Transparency in the functioning of the Security council.

iii) Another reform could be the removal of veto power given to the five permanent members of the UN.

iv) Removal of the power of negative voting given to permanent members during decision making in the Council.
