The issues related to environmental degradation are highlighted below:

a. The national forests are being cut down and leading to large scale displacement of the residents. They are important to stabilize the climate, moderate the water supplies and harbor the majority of the planet's biodiversity on land.

b. The decline in the total amount of ozone in the Earth's stratosphere is a danger to the health of the planet.

c. Grasslands and fisheries have been overexploited.

d. There is no food production on the polluted and depleted water bodies.

e. The coastal areas are becoming polluted due to land-based activities.

f. The reduction in the quality of the Marine Environment.

g. The ever increasing pressure on the land due to the increasing population.

h. The cultivable land is declining and the agricultural fertile land is losing its fertility.

i. According to the Human Development Report 2016 of the UNDP, 663 million people in developing countries have no access to safe water.

j. 2.4 million people do not have access to sanitation. This has led to the death of more than 3 million children every year.
