Give examples where (a) the velocity of a particle is zero but its acceleration is not zero, (b) the velocity is opposite in direction to the acceleration, (c) the velocity is perpendicular to the acceleration.

a) The velocity of a particle is zero but its acceleration is not zero at the highest point reached by the particle when it is thrown vertically upwards. The acceleration is equal to the gravitational acceleration.

b) The velocity is opposite in direction to the acceleration when the particle is thrown vertically upwards.

c) The velocity is perpendicular to the acceleration when the particle in projectile motion is at the highest point.
