A block of mass m is kept on a horizontal table. If the static friction coefficient is μ, find the frictional force acting on the block.

As the block is kept on horizonal surface and it is at rest, the frictional force will be zero. It is because the frictional force comes into action whenever there is the relative motion between the surface of body and the ground/ floor. When the force is applied on the body to move it, the frictional force will act in opposite direction to oppose the motion. Hence, when body is at rest, frictional force will be zero.
