Write a short note on Kitab-ul-Hind.

a. Kitab ul Hind was written by Al Biruni.


b. It was written in simple Arabic.


c. It is voluminous text with 80 chapters divided into various subjects like astronomy, alchemy, manners and customs, festivals, religion, philosophy, social life, laws, metrology, iconography, weights, and measures.


d. A distinctive measure was adopted by him for each chapter.


e. Each chapter began with a question, followed by a description based on Sanskritic traditions, and concluding with a comparison with other cultures.


f. According to some scholars, this book had a geometrical structure, excellent precision and predictability owing to its mathematical orientation.


g. His work was intended for the people living in the frontiers of the subcontinent.


h. He had good knowledge about the translations and adaptations of Sanskrit, Pali, and Prakrit texts int Arabic. This work ranged from fables to astronomy and medicine.


i. He was also critical of the manner in which these texts were written and wanted to improve on them.
