State some characteristics of Krishnadeva Raya’s rule.
Expansion and consolidation policies were an integral part of Krishnadeva Raya’s rule and it led to him being one of the most famous rulers of the region.
He strengthened the central authority and strictly controlled the Nayakas or military chiefs who in turn had control over forts and armed supporters. In spite of the military preparedness, the kingdom flourished as he was able to maintain peace and prosperity in the region.
Krishnadeva Raya was also a patron of art and architecture. He not only enabled the building of several important and beautiful temples; he also funded the building of several Raya Gopurams or royal gateways in front of other south Indian temples.
