Explain briefly how the rebels in 1857 tried to materialise their vision of unity?

The rebels in 1857 appealed to all the sections of the society irrespective of their caste creed, religion, economic power etc. Though most the proclamations were made by the people of the Muslim communities and in their kings’ names, but it was also ensured that the sentiments of the Hindus are also taken into consideration. It was preached that in these rebels there were equal chances of both Hindus and Muslims to lose. For example, a proclamation was issued in the name of Bahadur Shah which made an appeal to the people to actively participate in the rebel under the names of both Mahavir and Mohammad. Thus in this way, the vision of unity was materialized.
