What do visual representations tell us about the revolt of 1857? How do historians analyse these representations?

Various visual representations tell us about the revolt of 1857. Like in one picture it can be seen that the British people were being attacked by the sepoys who were also accompanied by the common people. Because of this attack the British forces were destroyed simply like a house made of cards. We can also see the picture of Secundrah Bagh of Lucknow, made by Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, which was completely shattered because of the mutiny. The skeletons of the sepoys were found to be lying on the ground of this place. A picture of the execution of the mutinous sepoys, featured in London News newspaper in October 1857 also tells us about a dark side of the mutiny. The execution of 12 sepoys took place in a row and the entire execution process was carried out in open public space to instill fear about the fact that what could happen if someone went in opposition to the British.
