Why were the hill stations important for the colonial economy?

The hill stations were important for the colonial economy due to the following reasons:

Staying at hill stations protected the British from suffering from diseases like malaria and cholera which are common in the plain lands because of the hot and humid weather.

The hill stations acted as a sanitarium, which was used as a place of rest by the soldiers and also a place to recover from their illness.

The tea and coffee plantations served the business purposes of the British very well and so they preferred the hill stations a lot.
