Why did Mahatma Gandhi think Hindustani should be the national language?
Mahatma Gandhi thought that the language should be common to all the people. Everybody should be able to understand it. Hindustani- a blend of Hindi and Urdu language was used by a large section of the society. This language had collected it’s words and terms from different source. Hence people of various regions understood this language. So Mahatma Gandhi thought that this multicultural language should be the national language.
