Which of the following two statements is more appropriate?

(a) Two forces are added using triangle rule because force is a vector quantity.

(b) Force is a vector quantity because two forces are added using triangle rule.

The second statement (b) is more appropriate. A vector must obey vector laws of algebra, to be called as a vector quantity. Just by simply having magnitude and direction we can’t call it a vector. So, we can say that Force is a vector quantity since it obeys the triangle law of vector addition apart from having magnitude and direction.
