A particle is going in a spiral path as shown in figure (7.Q3) with constant speed.


Motion along this spiral path can be considered as a combination of translational motion and circular motion. In circular motion, direction of motion changes at every instant. This implies, direction dependent vectors like velocity and acceleration will also vary.

It is given that the particle is going in the spiral path with constant speed. Therefore, magnitude of acceleration has to be constant, it cannot be increasing or decreasing.
