Equilibrium is a condition where the net forces on the particles are well balanced. Two particles can be in equilibrium under the action of their mutual gravitational force if they are revolving around a common point, mostly being the center of mass of the system. Here, the centripetal force balances the gravitational force. The same is the case with three body systems revolving around a point.
