The weight of an object is at the poles than at the equator. Is it beneficial to purchase goods at equator and sell them at the pole? Does it matter whether a spring balance is used or an equal-beam balance is used?

The weight of an object is more at the poles than at the equator due to the oblate shape of the earth. Thus, while measuring the weight of an object, we need to calibrate the device according to the value of the acceleration due to gravity. As weight at the equator would be less as compared to the pole, it might be beneficial to some extent.

However, in case of goods, it’s better to use equal beam balance than spring balance as it calculates the mass of the goods and not their weight, which is constant everywhere.
