A magnifying glass is a converging lens placed close to the eye. A farsighted person uses
spectacles having converging lenses. Compare the functions of a converging lens used as a
magnifying glass and as spectacles.
The magnifying glass has a converging lens of small focal length, and hence, it is used to look into
the objects placed much closed to it.
On the other hand, in spectacles, the converging lens have varying focal length depending upon
the near point of the hyperopia or hypermetropia or farsighted person. The image is formed near
point of the hyperopia or hypermetropia eye and later it is focussed further by the eye lens.
