A shopkeeper sold two fans for Rs. 1140 each. On one he gains 14%, while on the other he loses 5%. Calculate his gain or loss per cent in the whole transaction.
CP of first fan = Rs.1140
SP of first fan=
= Rs.1299.60
CP of second fan = Rs.1140
SP of second fan =
= Rs.1083
CP of both fans = 1140 + 1140
= Rs.2280
SP of both fans = 1299.60 + 1083
= Rs.2382.60
It is a case of Gain because SP is more than CP.
Gain = SP – CP
=2382.60 - 2280
= Rs102.60
= (102.60 × 100) / 2280
= 4.5%
