Cellulose is a type of carbohydrate that can be digested by ruminants but not by humans. The grass is rich in cellulose. Human cannot digest cellulose in their food like cattel due to the absence of rumen.


Ruminants have a large sac-like structure called rumen which is present in between the small intestine and large intestine. The cellulose of the food is digested by the action of certain bacteria present in rumen.
