State few similarities and differences between the laboratory thermometer and the clinical thermometer.

The similarities between the laboratory thermometer and clinical thermometer are as follows:

(i) Mercury is used in laboratory thermometer as well as in clinical thermometer.

(ii) The quantity measured in both laboratory thermometer as well as in clinical thermometer is temperature.

The differences between the laboratory thermometer as well as clinical temperature are as follows:

(i) The temperature in a clinical thermometer can’t fall itself but this is not so in case of laboratory thermometer. In case of laboratory thermometer, the temperature can fall by itself.

(ii) The range of the temperature used in a laboratory thermometer is high from -100C to 1100C whereas in case of clinical thermometer, the range is limited.
