● Parenchyma is made up of living cells.

● The cells are thin walled.

● Cell wall is made of cellulose.

● Parenchyma tissues store food and also help in photosynthesis.

● These tissues are found in soft parts of the plant such as mesophyll of leaves, etc.

● Cells of this tissue are loosely packed and have large intercellular spaces between them.

● Sclerenchyma is composed of dead cells.

● The cells are equally thickened.

● Cell wall of Sclerenchyma tissues are made of lignin.

● Sclerenchyma tissues provide mechanical strength, flexibility and elasticity to the plant.

● Sclerenchyma tissues are found in roots, veins of leaves, etc.

● Cells of this tissue are tightly packed so they have no intercellular spaces in them.
