Tropical Deciduous Forests



1. These forests are grow in an area where annual rainfall is more than 200 cm.


2. These forests shed their leaves at different time or may be never so that’s the reason that it always appears green.


3. Trees are tall more than the height of 60 meters or more.


4. Plants and animals are found in large numbers.


5. Because of their inaccessibility these are not that much useful commercially.


6. On the slopes of Western Ghats, West Bengal, Orissa and Northeastern states of India, here they are found.


7. Ebony, Mahogany and rosewood are some important trees which are found here.



1. These tropical deciduous forests grow in an area where rainfall is received between 70 cm to 200 cm.


2. These trees shed their leaves about six to eight weeks in dry summer.


3. Trees are shorter about 20 meter height.


4. Species are found in less number.


5. These are more useful comparatively.


6. In the northeastern part of peninsular plateau, eastern slopes of Western Ghats, M.P., Orissa, Bihar and Shivaliks, here they are found.


7. Sal, Shisham, sandalwood, Khair etc. are the important trees of this forest.
