Santosh often observed the villagers going up the Aravalli Hills and then vanishing after a while from her room in Kasturba Hostel. However, on investigating regarding the truth behind it, she found only a few mountaineers and asked if she could join them. They instantly agreed to this and even motivated her to take up Mountain Climbing. In this way, Santosh was acquainted with mountaineering and began to climb mountains.
