Why do HCI, H2SO4, HNO3, etc., show acidic character in aqueous solutions while solutions of compounds like C6H12O6 (glucose) and C2H5OH (alcohol) do not show acidic character?
Whenever acids react with water, they get dissociated, producing hydrogen (H+) ions in the solution. The presence of hydrogen ions determines the acidic character. It does not happen in case of compound like glucose and alcohol. They do not get dissociated and hence cannot show acidic character
