Solve each of the following quadratic equations:
3x2 – 2√6x + 2 = 0
Using the splitting middle term - the middle term of the general equation is divided in two such values that:
Product = a.c
For the given equation a = 3; b = -2√(6;) c = 2
= 3.2 = 6
And either of their sum or difference = b
= -2√6
Thus the two terms are -√6 and -√6
Sum = -√6 -√6 = -2√6
Product = -√6. -√6 = -6 6 = √6. √6
(On using 3 = √3.√3 and √6 = √3 √2)
