Here length of the shadow of a vertical pole is equal to its height

Let them both be x m

Angle of elevation = tan θ = P/B (p = perpendicular, b= base)

Here p = b = x

∴ tan θ = x/x

tan θ = 1

∴ θ = 45° (∵ tan 45° = 1)
