The events that led Ray Johnsen to describe Akhenaten wacky were that he had promoted the worship of Aten (the sun disk) from Amun the major God, changed his name from Amenhotep to Akhenaten, moved the religious capital from Thebes to Akhetaten, and destroyed temples and idols of Amun shocking the whole country.
