When we hold the piece iron wire with a pair of tongs inside a candle flame or a Bunsen burner flame of, the piece of iron will turn red hot and glow. It will not produce a flame as it doesn’t vaporize during burning. Any substance that has an ability to vaporize during burning can produce a flame.
