Continuous cutting of trees is known as deforestation. The roots of the trees help in binding the soil together. Trees absorb the rainwater and allow it to enter the soil, thus maintaining the water table also. In the absence of tree, rainwater leads to flood. And, as no trees are present, therefore, they easily remove the top layer of the soil causing soil erosion.
