When do desert plants take up carbon dioxide and perform photosynthesis?

In deserts, the weather is very hot and the amount of rainfall is very low. Hence, if desert plants take CO2 during day, large amount of water can be lost. To avoid this water loss, some of the desert plants take CO2 during night.
