Chemical digestion takes place in small intestine. It secretes chemicals which break down the food and take away nutrients to blood stream. The maximum absorption of digested food occurs in the small intestine part of the alimentary canal. It begins from the pyloric part of stomach and ends up into large intestine. Small intestine has 3 parts- duodenum, jejunum and ileum. The undigested food is passed to the large intestine where maximum water is reclaimed before egestion of solid faeces.
