Ice at 0 °C is more effective in cooling than water at 0 °C. Give reason.

When ice melts or gets converted to liquid, it absorbs latent heat of fusion which is the heat energy required to change a solid into liquid at a constant pressure. Ice at 0°C absorbs much more heat to increase its temperature and melt as compared to water at 0°C. This makes ice at 0°C more effective in cooling than water at 0°C.
