In deserts, there is little water available for plants and other organisms. Because of which desert soils are dry, and tend to have poor vegetation (plants found in a particular area). Hence lack of water/water scarcity due to low rainfall is responsible for poor vegetation in deserts (less growth of plants in the desert).
