The Human Development Report published by UNDP compares countries based on the educational levels of the people, their health status and per capita income. India occupied the 131^st position on the list out of the 188 countries in the Human Development Report, 2016. Its neighbouring country, Sri Lanka had the 73^rd rank on the same list.
