Due to a long growing season, various types of soils, climate, and large agricultural area, India is an important producer of many crops. The factors on which farming practice in India depend upon can be divided into two types –


a) Physical factors which include climate, soil, and landform.


b) Socio-economic factors which include demand for food/cash crops, technology, labour and organization.
