Define the term ‘work’. Write the formula for the work done on a body when a force acts on the body in the direction of its displacement. Give the meaning of each symbol which occurs in the formula.
Work is done whenever a force acts on a body and the body moves in the direction of force.
When force is exerted on an object and object is displaced, work is said to be done.
Work = Force x Displacement
Or, W = F x s
Where, W is work
‘F’ is force and ‘s’ is displacement
