Explain why the causes of male and female migration are different in India. Find out the

Majority of the Migrants belong to Socio-Economically weaker sections of the society, who have negligible Education.

Factors responsible for migration:


a. High Poverty and Dependence on Agriculture as a Primary source of Employment.


b) Better Employment Opportunities in Semi-Urban and Urban Areas for Work as well as Education.


c) Low Income and Low Literacy Rate forces People to search for Odd Informal Jobs in Urban Areas.


Most of the Males migrate in search of better employment while most of the females migrate due to marriage


Consequences :


1. A large movement of people from rural to urban areas causes overcrowding in cities and puts heavy pressure on resources.


2. Increase in slums that lacks basic infrastructural facilities such as safe drinking water, electricity, sewage etc.


3. Overcrowding is also responsible for any environmental problems of air, water, land and noise pollution, disposable and management of solid wastes.
