i) Gene is the carrier of heredity. Genes are present on the chromosomes which code for different characters. Genes play a very important role in passing the information from one generation to another.

ii) Genetics is used for sex determination in humans. E.g.- It is important in finding the parent of the child as the child will have one set of similar genes as that of parents.
