Is variation more beneficial for the species or for the population? How?

Variations is more beneficial for the species than for the population. During reproduction, copying of DNA takes place which is not 100% accurate, thereby causing variations are favourable they help the individuals to survive and pass there, variations to their progeny. Depending upon the nature of variations, different individuals have different upon the nature of variations, different individual have different advantages, which promotes their survival like bacteria which can withstand heat will survive better in heat wave.
